Quality Spanish Theological Texts
It has always been our goal, through your support, to work alongside Spanish-speaking leaders to see the gospel advance more quickly in South America. Over the past six years, this has looked like partnerships with local congregations and Seminario Bíblico William Carey (SBWC), and the progress could not be more encouraging. As more and more congregations and pastors seek to teach healthy doctrine, SBWC continues to grow and expand its Kingdom influence. We have an incredible strategic opportunity together.
One of our most significant initiatives has been helping SBWC acquire and renovate its administration and education building. We started in 2018 and are just two short years away from completing this purchase. All along, and with your help, we have also worked to renovate and prepare the space for ongoing education, training pastors and leaders in the word.
2018
Initial purchase of the new Seminario Bíblico William Carey administration and education building.
2019
Renovation began, creating a large meeting room for the first in person SBWC classes in the new space.
2020
A team from a church in Texas visited to demo and rebuild the entry staircase.
2020
In the midst of COVID, renovation continued and we were able to finish the recording studio, providing new content for online classes around the world.
2021
SBWC unexpectedly gained access to the ground floor of the building, creating a new opportunity for an expanded library.
2022
A team from Washington state visited to build new shelves for the new library.
2023
Let’s fill the library with quality theological content!
Seminario Carey currently has space for 4,500 books and already has over 1,000 on the shelves. The overall goal is 7,000 books, making it the first major collection of reformed theological writing available in Argentina.
Our goal at the end of 2022 is to raise $12,000 to continue purchasing and providing Seminario Bíblico William Carey’s library with quality Spanish texts.
We praise the Lord that Seminario Carey can offer theological training through their professors’ online classes. However, we are confident when we say that these professors are not the end-all of theological teachers!
To offer solid academic training to South American church leaders, we want to provide them access to C.S. Lewis, St. Augustine, Athanasius, hundreds of other biblical teachers throughout the ages, and as many Spanish versions of quality texts as possible. This will allow students to go deeper into their understanding of the Word as they can consult with some of the most esteemed commentators on the Bible and church history.
This library will not be limited to students of Seminario Carey. The renovation plans include spaces where anyone interested in deep Biblical study can come and spend extended time learning more. Tables, comfortable chairs, scanners, and computers are all within the scope of the library construction and will convert the space into a practical study hub for anyone needing access to multiple theological volumes. In time we hope to be able to provide service to church leaders abroad by offering scans of particular texts or historical writings that can help them as they research doctrinal theses or write their own Christian books.
You can make this possible. Will you join with a gift of $50, $200, $1000, or more?
