New shelves for a new library

Seminario Bíblico William Carey (SBWC) was founded to meet a need. Sure, Spanish seminaries in the USA taught sound doctrine, but the tuition dollars required were lightyears beyond the local Argentine economy. Yes, there were seminaries in Argentina, but none committed to quality theology. SBWC was born to offer biblical and accessible theological training online at a reasonable cost in local currency.

Throughout the years, many church partners throughout the US have recognized the importance of what SBWC is doing in South America. Cornerstone Church in Mesa, Arizona, jumped in early on to help with class materials. When God opened that door, other churches and individuals came together to purchase an administrative building. Redeemer Church of Abilene, Texas, was among the first to come down personally to assist with the building renovations. The boost these church partners gave has taken Seminario Carey from a small regional initiative to a growing international institution with an active headquarters in Córdoba, Argentina.

Most recently, Emmanuel Baptist Church joined the work boosting the seminary.

In September, they spent ten days in Córdoba, working in the administrative building to construct bookshelves for the theological library. Due to Argentina's strict social policies during the pandemic, the building remained empty of students and staff for over a year. As of late 2021, the space is bustling again with classes, student meetings, graduations, and study halls. The classroom and recording studio on floors 3 and 4 are finished, and the current construction focus involves installing an entire theological library to benefit students and local leaders alike.

Emmanuel Baptist Chruch's visit was the first since Argentina opened its borders again, and they were eager to lend a hand to this latest construction project! During their time on the ground, they built enough bookshelves to hold 4500 volumes (our goal!), painted the new library space, and converged the patio (previously used for storage) into a small meeting garden. Team members were also able to support students of the Biblical Counseling program by offering break-out sessions and workshops throughout the week. The team's heart for building up local leaders was evident as they used their time to pour into theology students and create resources for them.

Each church, missions team, and individual partnered with Seminario Bíblico William Carey has helped it to grow beyond the limits of Argentina and even the boundaries of South America.

This year we are asking you to help us with the next step in the seminary's growth. We installed these shelves because we know there is a tremendous need for ongoing education and training of Latino church leaders. We want to fill up those bookshelves and provide Bible dictionaries, systematic theology volumes, Christian biographies, histories of the church, and many more books that will allow students and leaders to dive deeper into their knowledge of the Bible. Our goal is to raise $12,000 this year for these purchases. You may not be able to teach a class or build a bookcase. Still, you can directly impact pastors, leaders, and missionaries in Argentina by providing the first-ever reformed theological library in the country.

You can make this possible. Will you join with a gift of $50, $200, $1000, or more?
