A new missionary era.
We live in a new missionary era.
While the job is far from finished, more than 200 years after William Carey launched the modern missionary movement, a new paradigm prevails. As Peruvian theologian Samuel Escobar has put it, missions now flow “from everywhere to everywhere.” Now, some of the most important cross-cultural mission endeavors are led by missionaries from Latin America, the Philippines, Korea, Africa, India, and China.
But one thing hasn’t changed.
The most important resource for world missions continues to be faithful leaders. The key to missions is still found in the advice the Apostle Paul gave Timothy, “what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men…”
World missions hinge on training faithful leaders.
In the United States, when a believer hears the call to begin serious theological training they have many options at their disposal. But this is not the case in the Spanish-speaking world. There are very few seminaries and those who hear the call to ministry are financially unable to uproot their families and move to one of the few seminaries to be educated and trained.
Enter Seminario Biblico William Carey.
With a unique and versatile education philosophy, SBWC is training leaders where they live. Through online courses and study centers in major cities across South America, SBWC offers a certificate program especially tailored to meet their needs. This approach is already having a profound impact on the number of trained Pastors and leaders.
Economic struggles continue to hinder the training of new missionaries and advancement of the gospel. Study centers take resources. Distance learning requires infrastructure. Because of this, many students are unable to receive the quality theological education they need.

As much as things change, God still works through faithful men and women—through those who give and those who go.
FAQ's
With the economic situation and difficulty traveling around Latin America, it can be difficult for students to congregate at a centralized location to attend classes. Because of this, Seminario Bíblico William Carey brings education to the students through study centers in cities throughout the continents and online distance learning.
The short answer is yes. When students sign up for the scholarship program they commit to excellence and integrity in their academic studies, faithfulness in their walk with the Lord and initiative in communication with you, the donor.
That depends on the level of your gift. Fortunately, Seminario Bíblico William Carey is structured in a way which relieves the monetary demands on students. SBWC subsidizes many student’s tuitions until they become fully funded so that they can continue receiving an education. Once they are fully funded, it relieves the burden of the subsidy from SBWC allowing the seminary to bring in new students and start new projects.
